Raspberries
June & Late September - Mid October
Mouthwatering red raspberries are available twice each year. In early summer, berries ripen on last year’s canes in June. After the first crop, plants grow new canes through the summer that flower later and produce a second harvest in early fall. If you miss them during the busy early summer season, you can catch raspberries again from late September through mid-October.
We grow one variety of red raspberry—Prelude—chosen for its hardiness on the hills of Locke/Genoa and its strong disease resistance.
Fresh raspberries have a short shelf life. After harvest, we recommend cooking, freezing, or preserving them the same day or within the next couple of days, before the berries begin to break down.
