Apples are our most well-known crop and the heart of our fall season. They have been a mainstay of the farm since 1975. Today, we grow over 15 acres of apples for u-pick and cider.

The orchards closest to the farm store feature our dessert u-pick varieties, bringing the crisp taste of fall straight from the tree. As each variety ripens, rows are marked with red signs indicating they are ready to be picked.

U-pick varieties in our orchard (generally listed in order of ripening):
Zestar, Sansa, Ginger Gold, Fuji, Yellow Delicious, Jonagold, McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Ida Red, Macoun, and Northern Spy.

Prefer ready-picked apples? You’ll find them in the farm store through Christmas. Most notably our farm grown Honeycrisp apples are only available in the farm store. We also sell other modern varieties, such as Snapdragon, Crimson Crisp, Pink Pearl, Evercrisp and others when available.

In the back orchard, we grow a selection of apples specifically for hard cider. These varieties are typically more tart and are not ideal for u-pick. To learn more about our hard cider, visit Grisamore Cider Works.

Apples that don’t meet u-pick, ready-picked, or wholesale standards are used to make our sweet apple cider. To learn more about the sweet cider pressed right here on the farm, check out our cider page.

U-pick runs from August through early November. Free bags are provided, and carts are available to help haul your harvest—though you’re welcome to bring your own.
